I am pregnant (14 weeks) so I’ve been hyper-aware of my body lately. I’m noticing that since I got pregnant I’ve occasionally been having cloudy urine. I read a little online and one page suggested pouring vinegar into the toilet it to see if the urine clears; this rules out normal pregnancy related things like proteinuria and mucous and links it to pH. Sure enough, it cleared. I’m curious if come and go alkaline urine during pregnancy is a cause for concern. Articles relate it to diets low in meat and high in veggies but honestly I’m so nauseous I mostly just eat pasta and baked potatoes now. I’ll mention it to my doctor when I’m there in 2 weeks, I was just curious in the meantime.
Tags:baked potatoes, cloudy urine, diets, pasta, pregnancy, proteinuria, toilet, veggies, vinegarAfter the birth of my first child I began having strange, seemingly unrelated symptoms. First, I became extremely fatigued which I didn’t think much of because I was exhausted throughout my pregnancy. The fatigue continued and I assumed it was because I was still breastfeeding. Eventually, I asked my docter and they began doing bloodwork to figure out what was going on.
It turns out my alkaline phosphate was high. After checking a few more times, months apart, it remained higher than the usual. They finally detected (a year later) that the increased alk phos was coming from the bone. However I could not get a nuclear bone scan because of the radiation and on account that I was still breastfeeding.
I switched doctor’s and a new one suggested that I start taking more vitamin D and calcium supplements. Which I did religiously for several months before getting checked again. My fatigue went away and when I got the blood results from this consequent test, it revealed my alk phos had finally went down to normal levels. Yet my vitamin d was extremely low. (Did I mention that I’d been taking 250% of the daily amount every day.)
I am only 27 years old and this came as quite a shock to me as my mother just got diagnosed with the beginning stages of osteoperosis. Anyways, I got put on a regime of 50,000 iu’s of vitamin d a week. Plus I still take my daily dose of d and calcium along with my daily multivitamin.
My next symptom is plain old irritability. I have no patience and a very short temper all of a sudden. I don’t know what is wrong with me. I am generally very easy-going and this is quite a change in my personality. I do not like it.
In addition, I went on a diet and lost weight (45 lbs) in the middle of all this, but lost it too easily I think. So, I guess you could add weight loss to the list.
Finally, today i went to the doctor’s for a sinus infection and my blood pressure was low 100/50 (or close to it). Strange because, my blood pressure has always been normal (120/80).
Doctor’s don’t seem to think anything of any of the symptoms as single events, or in relation to each other. I think I need to change physicians again in any rate. Although the symptoms seem unrelated, they may be trying to tell me something. Something isn’t right with my body and I know it.
Oh, and I do not have hep c or any std’s, so that’s out of the question. And I’m not a hypochondriac. If anyone has any ideas what could be wrong with me please let me know!!! Thanks!!!
Additional comments…
I’m kind of freaked out. I’ve been dizzy and disoriented the last few days too. I can’t concentrate either. I think something is seriously wrong with me. I did some research and i’m looking into problems with my thyroid, Pagent’s disease, and Addison’s disease . If anyone has any other (serious) suggestions please let me know!!!
My vet is getting ready to give up, and I’m now looking for alternative opinions. If there are any vets out there, I’d really appreciate your feedback!
I have a 3 year old male beagle/shepherd mix, who has had a variety of medical problems since we adopted him from a shelter 2 years ago. When we first had him checked out by a vet the day after adopting him, we discovered he had an ear infection. He had since developed an ear infection every two months or so for the next 1.5 years. My vet told us that this type of chronic ear infection is normally associated with an allergy. I asked her to do a blood test, and it was determined that he is severely allergic to household dust mites. Since January, we’ve been giving him an allergy shot that was developed specifically for his allergy needs. This has helped his ear infections tremendously, and for that we are grateful.
However, right around the time the shots started, it was discovered that he had a severe pH imbalance in his urine (Although we do not believe there is a relation). His urine is extremely alkaline, and is causing bladder infections every couple of months, and is putting him at a high risk for developing bladder stones. Our goal now for the past 6 months has been to increase the acidity in his urine. We changed his diet to a more holistic brand, which didn’t work. He’s now been on prescription food (MRX Hills Canine C/D) for about 2-3 months, but his urine pH has not changed one bit. His pH reading is higher than 9, and it should be at a 5 from what we were told.
Our vet is starting to run out of ideas, because she has never seen a case so severe that the C/D food didn’t resolve. After some brainstorming, she suggested we try using the C/D dry food, with half a can of S/D wet food. We have not yet purchased the S/D, as we just met with her about it last night.
Are we on the correct path? Are there any dog owners or veterinarians who have lived through this kind issue before and can share their wisdom? Would it make sense for me to try cooking human food for him (brown rice, chicken, etc) to see if that helps?
Let me know if you need more information. Thank you!

Had some minor symptoms (severe acid reflux, mild pain on upper right quadrant, nausea) recently that my doc indicated could possibly be gall bladder related. My alkaline phosphatase levels were at the highest end of normal (126 out of 126) and have been that way for years. My health insurance isn’t the greatest so I have not gotten an ultrasound yet, so instead I have changed my diet, taking out grease and fat and I do not drink alcohol. Will the changes I have made have any effect? or am I destined to have gall bladder removed eventually? I’m not obese and have no history of gall bladder problems in my family …..

1.) The pH of the blood _______ as ________ and H+ ions _________.
a.) decreases; O2; increase
b.) increases; CO2; decrease
c.) decreases; CO2; increase
d.) increases; O2; decrease
e.) increases; CO2; increase
2.) If the blood is alkaline,
a.) more hydrogen ions, sodium and bicarbonate ions are excreted
b.) less hydrogen ions and more sodium and bicarbonate ions are reabsorbed
c.) the kidneys reabsorb increased amounts of water
d.) less hydrogen ions are excreted and less sodium and bicarbonate are reabsorbed
e.) the diet must be low in neccessary acids
For the first one, I put c. and b for the second one. but im not sure if they’re right?

She orders a cheese and bacon pizza with extra cheese and has about 3 large glasses of cola (ph value 3). On the way back home, she experiences heartburn and abdominal pain, and has difficulty breathing. She drinks a lot of water and has to consume milk of magnesia (pH value 10.5) before she feels comfortable again.
* Classify the liquids that she has consumed as acidic or alkaline.
* State the pH values of water and blood.
* State what the patient can include and avoid in her diet on a regular basis to avoid these symptoms in the future.

Some more info on my condition. Been like this for 15 years. Took many recreational drugs as a teenager. Think it started from there?
I do have:
Mild Athletes foot (reacuring)
Cold feet
Slight cracks around my groin area that weep. Yeasty and fungal. Nice!
Jock itch for at least 15 years. Sorted with coconut oil. Only thing that worked!
Itchy anus
Lower back ache.
Cold hands
Hard to put on weight
Wind/ burping/Bloating
*Indegestion
Upset stomach
Tightness in my chest sometimes.
*Slurring of words most of the time.
Furry tongue
*Poor concentration.
*Poor memory
Sensitivities to noise.
*Constant head fog
*Constant tiredness – apple cider vinegar helps for a small amount of time.
Itchy ears
I don’t have:
Sensitivities to smells, fuels, smoke diesel fumes etc. Although I did have a hair analysis done and said I do.
Mercury fillings. Removed Last year, but not done a detox on that.
Food sensitivies
Sinnus issues
I have tried:
Hypnosis
Acupuncture
Meditation
Reiki
Psychotherapists
Psychiatrists
CBT
Huna
etc etc
pH diet for 6 months – pH would not go above 7. Did go from acidic to more alkaline but only slightly. Didn’t feel any better.
Natrupaths – Latest – Had thyroid issues which now sorted. Lack in various vitamins but now sorted. Adrenal Fatigue but that’s a label which I think is to do with yeast. Said I had slight leaky gut.
Currently on:
Fivelac – Day 10 at 3 x AD with no die off. But did have had funny headaches and slight loss of balance every now and then. No constipation. If I’ve had this for years then might take a while?
Xbiotic – day 3. Contains GSE, Garlic, good bacteria, etc etc
Oh, I’m all over this thing but still not much progress.
Any input will be greatly appreciated. I think Its going to take a while to shift. And until I have all of this yeast/ fungal sorted I don’t think its worth trying to heal anything else.
Thank you in advance.
James
