countertopwaterfilterguide.com I used to think having a home water purifier was a luxury, or at least not completely necessary. Then I started doing some research into the purity of our water supply. Read this article to find out what I learned.
Tags:homewaterpurifier, homewaterpurifiersi mostly drink water i drink a coke about twice a week and drink tea if theres no water in my purifier. but i think since friday i have felt sick after drinking water at home and other places too. why?

So this is my culminating for my science class. I have three options. (I am in grade 10 btw)
a. Physics- i) Analyzing the index of refraction of purified water.
b. Chemistry- i)Testing for presence of ions in the purified water
ii) Testing for pH sing indicators. If the purified water is acidic/basic, neutralize water using a base/acid
c. Biology- i) Testing for bacteria under a Microscope.
So this is the "task"
1. You are to design, build and test a water purification system that can be used anywhere by anyone, especially in areas where clean drinking water is unavailable.
2. The water purifier should be built to remove large and small particles, and chemicals from a 30mL- 50mL sample of dirty water.
3. The sample of dirty water will be provided and ill be purified using the device you have constructed. The water purifier will be then tested to determine the purity of the purified water.
4. You must also design a testing system to determine the purity of your water (e.g. identify any remaining particles and chemicals remaining in the solution). Your testing system must have 3 replications.
5. You will build your water purification system at home. You will test a sample of diryt water and determine the purity of water in class on (date).
Ok , so i was thinking about just boiling water. But it doesnt fit in the description. also it doesnt say anywhere that i cant use all three options (phy, bio, chem)
Thanks!

Hi,
I’m 15 years old, and i have read/heard about the danger of fluoride in our water. It isn’t a myth. i tried to explain to my parents that we need a water purifier so it could get rid of the fluoride but they thought i was ‘crazy’ and dad thought i was becoming an ‘environmental freak’. I was just looking out for them and myself. since i can’t get a purifier now, are their any other ways of getting the fluoride out of our water with natural home remedies? I’ve tried Brita but that doesn’t work.
Thank you.
Tags:dad, freak, myth, natural home remedies, parentsHave you ever heard of epa or own the products they sale to purify your water in your home? Does their water product really work? If you have any info. please let me know about your experience. My parents have been convinced to buy this water purifier and I just wanted to find a little bit more about this product that sounds wonderful to have. I wouldnt want them to get ripped off. Thank you.

how do we determine which is a good water purifier for home drinking water purposes? which are the different chemical contaminants? what are the differences between borewell water, river water etc? how do we know which is fit for drinking. each water purifier company markets a different quality that makes their system better. as a layman, i am confused on parameters to judge.
thx
thanks. thats insightful. but in india, there is little awareness about water purifiers and purity required. all companies quote some different test to claim their water is purifier is better. as a result, there is no reference point to test which are good and which are simply adding on a lot of things that are not required.
thx

We purchased an under-the-sink water purifier system for our home (50 gallons per day, 4 chamber system) and with it, we took a service plan where the water professionals come by every 6 months to test the water and replace the filters. But yesterday when they came, the technician would not explain levels to us and kept trying to push the more expensive membrane on us when we weren’t sure it was needed (these have a useful life of 2 to 5 years). I checked on internet and I can buy that membrane for less than half than what he quoted, so I’m just wondering if I should service this system myself and purchase my own water testing meter to make sure my purification levels are in line with where they should be.
Will I need to gear up with any special wrenches? If I do this on my own, will I be missing something important or inviting unforeseen problems that the pros could have alerted me to.
I sense the home water purification biz may be full of hucksters. Right or Wrong?
The professional technician just said "your water is bad", but would not explain what the zone of acceptability was or how far into the "bad zone" we were. It was clear he didn’t want to educate us and that was suspect so I researched it on my own and found out what these levels were. We’re starting by purchasing a hand held testing meter which is a small investment but worth it versus the cost of the membrane which he quoted at 5 (we found same over internet for ). Our membrane is only 2 years old but the useful life may go to 5 years and that’s the real question. How far gone is it which the technician would not fully explain because he was in a sales mode but not being forthcoming. So we’re exploring now on our own but just wondering if more expertise is needed than simple research over internet.
The in home demonstration showed how much cleaner the water can be and how dirty my water really is and how it will not leave any more spots on my plates, tiles, etc.. Sounds great but is 00 too much?
